Mid-Atlantic Regional Center of Excellence (MARCE)

MARCE focuses on research to enable rapid defense against bioterror and emerging infectious diseases. Fourteen universities, seven government partners, and ten corporate partners are working together to improve our nation's public health response system. Specific diseases under investigation include Anthrax, West Nile Virus, Smallpox, and Cryptosporidium.

Biodefense Proteomics Research Centers

VBI is working with Social and Scientific Systems, Inc (SSS), the administrative center of the NIAID funded Proteomics Research Centers (PRC), to help design, develop, and maintain a publicly accessible Web site (ProteinBank) containing data and technology protocols generated by each PRC, as well as a catalog that lists reagents and products developed by the sites and available for public distribution.

PathPort

PathPort (Pathogen Portal) is a distributed system built on top of a client-side interconnect, ToolBus that enables data and analysis results obtained from replicated web services to be examined via it's visualization plugins. The ToolBus visualization plugins API is open, allowing anyone to create plugins for the system. This work is currently funded through the US Army's Edgewood Chemical Biological Center (ECBC).
